So How Do They Work?
Round Rock Soap Nuts are as simple to use in your laundry as your old commercial detergents and fabric softeners. Just place 4-6 Soap Nuts into your included cotton wash bag, or even an old sock, and toss into the drum of your washing machine. Cycle as usual and re-use them for as many as 4-8 loads of laundry! When they are no longer effective the soap nuts will not produce suds on the edge of it's skin when you squeeze them. Don't look for a washer full of suds, the foaming agents in commercial detergents are just one of the many ingredients you want to avoid in your cleaning routine. Check out these links and decide for yourself:
Making The Concentrate
Round Rock Soap Nuts can be concentrated into a liquid easily at home to make an inexpensive and effective cleaner for use as liquid dish soap, produce wash, glass and surface cleaner, floor cleaner, face wash foam, and for use in your steam cleaners. Just simmer 11 soap nuts in a quart of water for 30 minutes, let cool, then strain into a jar with a cheesecloth. Since there are no preservatives, this liquid will spoil in about two weeks so you want to keep it in your fridge and dilute in smaller batches. Add your favorite essential oils (peppermint and rosemary? citrus?) for an extra cleaning boost and to fill your home with your favorite scents!
Making Soap Nut Foam
After you have made your Round Rock Soap Nuts liquid concentrate, you have many options. Since Round Rock Soap Nuts are a natural rinsing agent, they don't always stay put long enough to perform their task when used for body care. You want to feel the soap, am I right? Easy solution...create FOAM! In less than one minute with a simple $20 appliance you can have foam at your fingertips! Learn how in the video to the right:
"My personal favorite is to use the foam as a face wash. No tight feeling like I used to get from detergents. My skin is so smooth!"
"My kids love for me to make it at bath time so they can wash themselves with a fun foamy product and I can relax knowing exactly whats in it. SOAP NUTS!"
